Public Realm
Improve Streets and the Public Realm to enhance our streetscapes and existing amenities; carry out proper cleaning and maintenance of our streets; work with Gardai to reduce antisocial behaviour.
Work closely with the Council to improve on the current approach to public realm design and maintenance by placing people and neighbourhoods at the heart of all design decisions and building on our existing assets to create successful public spaces and streets.
Expedite the progress of the Public Realm Design Code. With this in place, all construction projects and commercial buildings that frame our public realm should uphold the principles of good design, improving our streetscapes and the vitality of Limerick City.
Drive better maintenance of our public spaces, our state-owned housing, public buildings, including better management of urban vacancy and dereliction, improved cleaning of our streets and more widespread recycling facilities.
O’Connell Street Phase 2 needs to progress efficiently. As Phase 1 set up the parameters for the whole street, there should be considerable progress on statutory approvals and coordination of services in the advent of funding applications.
